The view of the city is a reproduction of Du Simitière's manuscript copy of an engraving found at the bottom of Hugo Allard's second map (Tøtius Neo-Belgii nova et accuratissima tabula) The original engraving is probably the work of Romeyn de Hooghe, and bears title: Nieuw-Amsterdam onlangs Nieuw Jork genoemt en nu her nomen by de Nederlanders den 24 aug. 1673. cf.
